Oily Skin
It has open pores.
It will shine an hour or so after washing.
It may look oily on waking.
It has a tendency to spots and blackheads.
It is less susceptible to wrinkles than other skin types.
5-minute oily skin-care
Cleanse quickly, using a wipe-off cleanser for normal-to-oily skin or a soap-free cleansing bar Rinse very thoroughly.
Tone using a toner that should be diluted if it contains alcohol so that it is not too drying. Moisten your cotton wool with water.
Moisturize where needed using an oil-free or gel moisturizer.
Remove eye make-up then cleanse as above but more thoroughly.
Apply moisturizer just where needed.
Oily Skin Remedy
Make a puree of fresh tomatoes, apply to the skin.
For oily skin, apply a thin layer of toothpaste and leave until dry. Once dry gently wash face with warm water. This temporarily dries out oily skin.
Face mask for Oily Skin
- Mix the apricot oil (1 tsp) and the palmarosa (2 drops) together in small dish. Put the green clay (1 tb sp) in a small bowl. Add the apricot oil mixture and stir. Add just enough warm water to make a spreadable paste, and work the mixture thoroughly to incorporate all the ingredients. Immediately apply the mask to a cleansed face and rest for ten to fifteen mintues. The mask will tighten slightly as the water evaporates and may feel a little strange. Don't worry; it's just the mask doing it's work. Finally, wash off the mask with warm water and apply a toner ans moisturizer.
- Beat together 1 egg white, 1 tsp spirits of camphor, 1 heaping Tbsp skim milk powder and a scant drop of essential oil of mint. First apply a thin film of odorless castor oil to the skin , then apply a thick layer of the egg white mask. Lie back for about 15 minutes. Wash off with warm water, then rinse with an apple cider vinegar and water solution or witch hazel.
1 tsp of tomato pulp, 1 tsp of cucumber pulp, 1 tsp of strawberry pulp or 1 tsp of egg white, 2 drops of lemon juice: Apply this paste repeatedly.
Dry Skin
Dry skin has a tendency to flake easily. It is prone to wrinkles and lines due to insufficient secretion of sebum. Dry skin has the inability to retain moisture and ages faster.
It has a fine matter texture.
It may be on the sensitive side.
There are usually no open pores.
It is more prone to fine lines and wrinkles than other skin types.
It is more vulnerable to the effects of central heating and sunlight.
Very fair skin is often dry.
5-minute Dry Skin-Care
Cleanse quickly using a wipe-off cleanser for dry skin.
Tone using alcohol-free toner on water-moistened cotton ball.
Hydrate with a moisturizer for dry skin. preferably one containing a broad-spectrum sunscreen.
Avoid and protect your eyes.
Remove your eye make-up.
Cleanse as above.
Apply a night-cream.
Natural remedy for dry itchy skin
Face masks for Dry Skin
- Apply natural mayonnaise, either homemade or bought from a natural foods store. Massage onto skin, leave on for 15-20 minutes, rinse thoroughly with warm water.
- Warm the honey (1 large tsp) in a small bowl immersed in hot water until it becomes liquid. Put the ground almonds (1 tb sp) into another small bowl. Add the melted honey and mix well, adding a little warm water to obtain a spreadable consistency. Immediately apply the mask to a cleansed face and rest for ten to fifteen mintues. Finally, was off the mask with water and apply a toner and moisturizer.
- Make a puree of 1 banana and 1 papaya, peach or avacado. Apply to skin. Leave on for at least 20 minutes then rinse with warm water, followed by a moisturizer of natural margarine or natural vegetable oil.
- Honey and egg face mask: One teaspoon olive oil, 1 egg yolk, one teaspoon honey, oatmeal (ground or you can also use infant oatmeal). Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, using enough oatmeal to make a paste. Smooth the paste all over your face. Leave on for 15 mins and then rinse with tepid water. Pat dry. The honey locks in moisture from the egg and olive oil, and the oatmeal soothes and softens the skin. You will notice a nice and healthy glow.
- Two medium sized bananas and honey (Optional). Mash the bananas. Add honey if desired. Smooth over the face and neck and leave on for 10 mins. Then rinse off with cool water and pat dry with a clean dry towel.
- Massage with oil before going to bath make your skin more younger.
Sensitive Skin
Looks fragile and translucent.
It is generally dry.
It may have freckles.
It tends to become flushed blotchy and irritated in extremes of temperature or through using harsh cleansing products.
It may suffer from broken red veins dermatitis allergies.
Sensitive Skin Care
- If you have sensitive skin do not use facial washes or soap; instead use a light, hypoallergenic cleansing lotion. Use a moisturiser to strengthen your skin and provide a barrier against irritants. Make sure you use an unperfumed moisturiser so as not to irritate your skin.
- Warm a small pot of honey in a double boiler, then test a small amount on your hand to make sure it's not too hot. When warm, apply the honey generously over your entire face. Leave the mask on for 15 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with warm, then cool water.
- Mashed cucumber and yoghurt together, add clay powder to smooth the mixture. Leave the mask 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. A cooling, soothing and toning mask.
Facial Masks for every type of skin
- Apple Zinger Facial Masks
This is good for Oily or Acne Prone skin. Take 1 medium size apple, grated fine, 5 tbs. honey. Mix the grated apple and honey well. Smooth over skin and let sit for 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
- Cucumber Yogurt Facial recipes (For Normal/Oily Skin)
1/2 cucumber
1 Tbsp plain yogurt
Puree cucumber in blender mix in yogurt, apply to face. Leave on for 30 minutes. Rinse well.
- Honey facials Mask (For Oily & Blemished Skin)
Massage a small amount of slightly heated honey onto skin. Wheat germ may be added for its abrasive action, protein and nutrients.
Mash 1 tablespoon ripe avocado, add 1/2 tsp honey and mix. Stir in a little almond meal until creamy. Apply to clean skin, leave on for 15-20 minutes and wash off with lukewarm water. Finish with a rinse of the vinegar pH balancer.
Take 2-3 large carrots and 4 1/2 tablespoons honey. Cook carrots , then mash. Mix the carrots with honey. Apply gently to the skin, wait 10 minutes. Rinse off with cool water.
1. Whisk together 1 tablespoon honey, 1 egg white, 1 teaspoon glycerin and enough flour to form a paste. (Approximately ¼ cup). Smooth over face and throat. Leave on for 10 minutes. Rinse off with warm water.
2. Banana mask. Mash up a very ripe banana. Add just enough honey to make a soft pulp. Apply over face and hair. This is such a great firming mask that aging movie stars have been known to put it in the cups of their bras to make their breasts perky.
- Lemon/Egg facials Mask (For Oily Skin)
Squeeze half a lemon and mix the juice with one beaten egg white. Apply to face avoiding the area around the eyes. Leave on your face overnight or if during the day, for about 15 minutes. Rinse with warm water.
- Oatmeal homemade Facial (For Oily Skin)
Make a creamy paste of oatmeal and water. Apply to face, let dry completely. Remove by very gently rubbing off with your fingers.
- Peach facial Masks (For Dry Skin)
Mash a fresh peach, mix with enough warm olive, peach kernel or almond oil to form a spreadable paste.
Mash the fresh fruit for a good facemask.
Variation: Add apricots to a little warm olive oil to form a spreadable paste. Good for dry skin.
- Dip two large lettuce leaves in olive oil and sprinkle on them a few drops of lemon juice. Place them on both sides of your face, and then cover them with a paper towel dipped in mineral water. Wipe your face with a cotton ball soaked in warm milk, then rinse with boiled warm water.
- Strawberry and Papaya facials masks
1/4th cup cooked peach, two strawberries, 1/4th cup mashed papaya, one tsp honey and oatmeal, to form a thin paste. Mask the fruits together and add oatmeal to make a paste. Apply to face and leave on for 10 mins. The fruit acids will remove the dead skin and leave you with a beautiful, hydrated glow. The oatmeal calms the skin.
